As a clinician at PCCA, Dr. Schwartz conducts neuropsychological assessments and provides therapy services for children, adolescents, parents, and families. She earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis on children and adolescents, from Ohio University and completed her doctorate education through the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology at University of Hartford. Dr. Schwartz completed her predoctoral internship at MiraCare Neuro Behavioral Health, and her graduate research focused primarily on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specifically social difficulties and executive function interventions. She also conducted research in the school setting examining access to services and behavioral interventions for children with social-emotional and behavioral concerns.
Dr. Schwartz has conducted therapy and assessments with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals, schools, and forensic settings. Although she sees a range of presenting concerns, she has particular areas of specialty in the treatment of anxiety and stress, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), mood disorders, ADHD, social difficulties, and childhood behavioral challenges. She has a background in psychoeducational assessment and can provide guidance with navigating special education services.
Dr. Schwartz operates from an integrative lens, meaning she believes treatment should be tailored to fit each individual’s and family’s unique needs and circumstances. She often draws from cognitive-behavioral (addressing our thoughts, feelings, and actions) and relational (how we interact and communicate with others) techniques, among others. Dr. Schwartz emphasizes the importance of addressing presenting concerns within the context of the wider systems (family, school, society, etc.).
